Sudden Change in Color Output; Shutting Down on Export, too.

    Hi all,

I'm confounded by this problem and of course it happens when I have a deadline.  I've been using CorelDraw12 for a good long while and have never had this issue.  In doing a revision to part of a template page, I changed some text but did not make any modifications to color.  I haven't touched the color profiles in well over a year and they are exactly as they have always been.  As you can see below, the colors on the left are my original which I uploaded for client review with no problem.  After I made my text changes and exported, I wound up with the mess on the right.  Same file type, same settings, same everything.  I double checked my profile and it is as it always has been (also shown below).  My output on the monitor within Corel is correct but when I put it in another program (any other program...from Word to FrontPage to PhotoShop, even stuck it in an email message just to see) it changes to what you see there.

I have been doing some fairly heavily layered major crunchy type stuff and the program has frozen a couple of times and also spontaneously shut down twice.  Could my drivers be corrupted?

It isn't my system; I have a gig of RAM and everything else is running along at a nice clip.  I'm using an HP w19b monitor &  Windows XP Home Edition.  I have read the Corel help file on color management a dozen times and I've tried everything I can think of and no dice.  Anyone have any ideas?  Confused

    Thanks,

    ~Lee

PS:  Ok, while we're at it....it seems like Corel is just closing itself any time I try to export as a PSD.  No warning, no nothing, just :::blip::: and gone.

    Two things to consider.

     1. Have you reset your workspace lately? You can do this by holding down the F8 Key while launching the CGS12 program. It will prompt you to overwrite your existing workspace. This means you will have to reset any customization you might have done to your interface including your color management.

    2. You might try specifying a profile in your import/export in color management. Try setting it to sRGB, turn on the arrows and then export a file. Set it back to  'arrows off' and export again. Compare the files outside of Corel and see if they show a difference. I have seen instances where this will reset the export functionality.

    3. There is a good chance you have a corrupt color management profile for your monitor, output, internal color space, etc. If the problem persists after a workspace reset, you may want to consider doing a repair install with your CGS 12 CD.

Verify the pallette you are using is CYMK so that you aren't having any nasty conversion problems. You can hover on top of the pallet bar icon at the top of the colors to discover the palette.  Also verify that all the objects in your template are indeed CYMK and you don't have any RBG artifacts.

Good luck and let us know what you find out.

Sorry for the slow reply and thank you for the input.  I had reset the workspace and it seemed to continue to happen regardless.  I was working with some ususually large and complex files and that, apparently, was causing the error.  When I reset the entire application (along with a  reboot of the system once or twice) , everything returned to 'normal'.

Well guys i encountered the same problem, and i guessed it had to do with some color profile so when i deleted user files it ran alright ..

well the file is located in

    C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Application Data\Corel\Graphics12\User Color

simply delete "user color" and restart corel draw.

i found it quite suprising not to find a solution for this problem of a so called professional desktop designing software in internet.

Please let me know if you guys have a better solution for this problem.

It is likely you didn't find your solution because this is not a common problem. And, if you go back to my previous response to your issue and look at item 3, you will see that listed a corrupt color profile as a possible issue.

I am glad your issue is fixed.

Thanks so much for posting this simple answer (the F8 key).  I had been pulling my hair out trying to figure out whay my exported colors looked different.  I did the F8 reset and now everything works fine!
