    Layers

Is it possible to move objects that are on different layers the same distance?

A map, for example. Each country is on its own layer. I decide that the map should be two inches higher. If I group all the objects, they move to the same layer and the advantages of the Layer Function is lost.

You can do this via the Transform Docker. You will have to select each layer and move those objects independantly by layer but you can get the precision you need to ensure they move the same distance.

You can transform them all without grouping them.

Select them and use the Transform Docker or just type + 2" in the Y box in the Property Bar beside the objects original y-axis value (xx.x" +2").

To select objects from different layers, you have to press the Edit Across Layers button, second button on the top of the Object Manager (Tools >> Object Manager).

Thank you. I already knew how to do that. I thought maybe all the objects on different layers could be moved in a single operation. I guess not.

Thank you. I already know how to use Transform, but I've never tried the method that you describe (+ 2). It sounds much faster. I'll try it.
