    Setting up and using guidelines

Before X3 I was using 11. Currently I use the guidelines to draw straight lines (which when finished are long boxes) and since using X3 I have encountered 2 problems that i hope are an easy fix. (1) X3 is setup (by me) to have the lines I draw snap to the guidelines. Sometimes the lines I draw are close together and when I try to put the guidelines close together they try and snap together. This never happened on Corel 11 so I don't know how to fix it. (2) When setting the horizontal guidelines, I have noticed that they move ever so slightly up a hair. The vertical lines do not do this. As it stands, to get a guidelines in the exact spot I need it to be I have to set the guideline a hair below where I need it. Is this the way it is supposed to be or is there a setting I need to fix to get it back the way it way on Corel 11?

Re: Setting up and using guidelines

A couple of things to check: do you have any other Snap To items set? Objects? Grid?

    What are your grid settings?

Are you dragging your guidelines into place, setting them in the toolbar by decimal entry, or via the setup guidelines dialog? Guidelines can be entered to several decimal places. How close are you trying to place them?

If you are dragging your guidelines to an object, are you taking into account the thickness of the outline of the object?

    A lot of questions, I know! ;-)

Re: Setting up and using guidelines

Thank you for the response. There are no other items set to Snap To. The grid is not set up to Snap To either. I fixed the guidelines snapping to one another. Apparently I had set the Snapping Threshold to High so when I moved that back to Low they stopped snapping together. As far as the horizontal guidelines moving up a tad when I place them, that is still happening. I drag my guidelines. To give you an insight on what I do, I draw wiring harnesses. So I have a drawing of two connectors and I draw the wires from one pin-position on one connector to the other pin-position on the other connector. I use the guidelines to setup the outline of the wires and then fill it up with the color of the wire after it is drawn. This never happened to me on Corel 6 or 11 so I have no clue how to fix it.
