CGS12 very slow application and screen icons missing

I've just transferred my CorelDRAW Graphic Suite 12 from my laptop to another (desktop) computer, out of necessity.  For commercial print purposes I had to recalibrate my monitors using Pantone Huey.  The extended monitor laptop setup made this impossible, so I chose to migrate to the 'big desktop' machine. This computer is dual core, tons of RAM, dual monitors.  The monitors are nicely calibrated.

My version of CorelDRAW is the downloaded TBYB, now v12.0.0590.  Somehow, on the new machine, CorelDRAW calls itself a 30 day trial but puts in my Serial Number anyway, though it hasn't asked for my Activation Code at all.

The main problem is the program is running DEAD SLOW.  On my laptop, it was rocket fast!  Now. on this 'high-speed' machine, I literally have to sit and wait after I click on a picture, or effect or magnifying glass until the program responds.  AND, some of the screen icons are missing.  For example, in any of the effects, like Brightness/Contrast/Intensity, the little sliders and the preview lock are not there.  Or, bottom of screen - page tabs - the arrows for jumping between pages are gone.

Incidentally, Photo Paint 12 is quite fast, but in the effects some of the screen icons are missing.

I'm using Windows XP Professional, Service Pack 2.  Screen Resolution 1440 x 900.  Dual Monitors.

I've tried reinstalling, resizing the window (can't change screen resolution because then it's not native - lose contrast settings).  Maybe the Pantone Huey setup should be done after installing Corel.

    Appreciate any help.

    Update to last situation:

Having deinstalled Huey and saw Corel work fine, I reinstalled Huey and Corel worked great with the calibrated monitor!

But after I shut down and booted again, Corel was dead slow again!  So, I removed Huey from the start-up and rebooted. Corel still slow.

Then deinstalled Huey, deinstalled Corel and reinstalled Corel (restarting computer every time to make sure the system was 'cleared').

Corel still dead slow, even without a trace of Huey around!!

    Deinstalled Corel.

    Help!

    Seamus.
