    Not recognizing fonts

I am using Corel to create pages for a sculptor's portfolio. I'm using BaseNine Small Caps for the display face and Myriad Web Condensed for the body. Everything was fine until recently, when Corel decided not to recognize Myriad.

    I have reinstalled the fonts.

I have tested to make sure the fonts work in other programs (they do).

They even work in Corel with a new document, but not with existing documents.

I have a lot of fonts (1,500+) installed, so knowing that more than 500 is not advised, I moved all but 384 to another directory, then tried to open the file.

I'm still getting the screen that says it doesn't see Myriad, and what would I like to substitute for it.

Can anyone help me help Corel recognize the font?

    Thanks much!

    Re: Not recognizing fonts

Do you have more than one font file for the Myriad font? (like a ttf and a otf font?) If so, remove one or the other and try again.

     Hi Hugh

Thanks very much. I checked, and I only have TTFs - I think.

Here are the Myriad fonts I have:

    Myriad BoldItalic - Wmbi___.pfm

    *Myriad Condensed Web - myriadc.ttf

*Myriad Condensed Web Italic - myriadci.ttf

    Myriad Headline - Wmhd___.pfm

    Myriad Italic - Wmi___.pfm

    Myriad Sketch - Wmske___.pfm

    Myriad Tilt - Wmtil__.pfm

    *Myriad Web - myriad.ttf

    *Myriad Web Bold - myriadb.ttf

    *Wyriad Web Italic - myriadi.ttf

Those with astericks all say  (TrueType)   after them. Other TrueType fonts seem to be working fine.

Any thoughts? And again, many thanks!

    Re: Not recognizing fonts

What does the Font Navigator report on your myriad fonts? (I assume that you are using the FN that came with your Corel Draw.)

Oh my! This is the first I've heard of this. I checked the Help menu, and I can see I have some homework. I'm guessing the FN is on one of the CDs ....

Thanks - let me see what that says!

    Re: Not recognizing fonts

After fudging to get the new portfolio pages done at least temporarily, I was finally able to sit down and look at Font Navigator. It seems to see the fonts just fine.

I can also create an entirely new document and use the fonts, but it doesn't see them for the template I had created for the portfolio pages (which makes me realize that I probably can just recreate that page ... hmmmm ....).

I also now recall that, at one time, I had a subfolder in the Windows/Fonts folder that the Myriad fonts resided in as well as being in the main Fonts folder. I'd swear this problem started before I "cleaned things up" and deleted that folder, but I can't say for sure.

So I tried to create a NEW subfolder in the Fonts folder called Fonts and put the Myriad fonts in there to see if it would work, but I can't seem to create a new folder there.

    Any thoughts?

Or should I just make a new template? <g>

Thanks so much for your insights and assistance!
