Hello everyone :) I'm writing here the first time. I've been using Corel Photo paint for years for processing pictures I take but it turns out I'm still a newbie :)

I thought I knew how copy/paste worked Smile But I don't Tongue Tied

Here's the situation:

I open a picture.

I use rectangular mask to draw a rectangle, I copy it.

I can paste it - it works Big Smile

I use the mask to draw another rectangle. I copy it, paste.... and the first one pastes!

I try to clear the clipboard, nothing works. I can create 10 objects, try copying them... whatever... pasting will always paste the first mask I copied.

I searched through this and other forums, in vain. Probably my problem is too simple... but it gave me some sleepless nights Indifferent

Can anyone help, please? What am I doing wrong, how to copy and paste parts of my pictures without these problems?

This is very simple! Before you copy your second mask, make sure that you have the background selected and not the previously created object. If the previously created object is selected then you are indeed copying that object and you will past that one over and over :) Matter of fact there is a one button solution to promoting a mask to a project, after you make your mask press the Ctrl+up arrow and your mask will be promoted to a object.

Thank you very much! It works for me, but just the second part (Ctlr-up) as in fact all I wanted to do was copying and moving parts of pictures.

But... even if I select background (with 'Object pickup tool') there's now way I can replace what's in the clipboard. Anyplace I click, any mask I select, anything I try to copy, after pasting - the first mask I copied ever pastes. I still don't get it...

You helped me anyway, thanks again Smile

Well it works fine here and I have no idea why your clipboard would not work like it should, whenever you press ctrl-c the content of the clipboard will be replaced by the new one unless there is no content to copy. Take a look at your clipboard by going to "Start>Run"  type "clipbrd" and press enter, that should show you what you are actually copying.

Check if you have the undo list enabled (Options, "Memory" page).

I know this sounds weird, but try launching the program using F8 and using the default work space.  I've had users with this issue and this is how they resolved it.  It makes no sense to me.
