    DRAWings X3 Outline question

    Hi,

    I am new to this forum.  I use Drawings X3 to make embroidery designs to sell on my own website.  I have been using this software for about two years.  I have not been able to change the outlines of my designs from the black default serial fill outline. I would like to know if there is any way to change the outlines on my designs to running stitch and assign different colors to certain parts of the outlines. I will try to explain better;

    I import a purchased clipart  graphic into Drawings via Create New> new Coreldraw graphic> select fabric>finish.Then I click the import icon and  this brings my bmp clipart into the Draw tab.  My example clipart is .bmp  of a girl and boy holding a heart with a black outline around all objects.  I then use the trace  bmp icon and get my vector design.  This has no fill and no outline in the object properties box.  When I switch to the STITCH tab my graphic is tranfered to stitches.  The large object areas are made into fills and the black outlines are brought in as a serial fill with no style and no pattern. This shows up in the fill tab of the objects properties not in the outline tab in the objects properties box,  This brings me to my question.

    How do I manipulate my graphic so when it is brought into DRAWings the outline is separated from the objects and when brought into the stitch tab this portion of the stitches shows up in the outline tab of the object properties, not in the fill tab of object properties. This way I can change the outline to a running stitch, satin stich, change colors, maybe assign a motif etc...?

    I hope this makes sense.  Does anyone have any suggestions?

    Thanks .

    Re: DRAWings X3 Outline question

    If i understand your question correcly, Drawings is behaving exactly as it should.

    By automatically tracing your bitmap, you are creating objects...........NOT outlines.

    You'd be much better off redrawing the bitmap with some of Corel's drawing tools. That way you could designate which areas you want object based and which areas you want to outline. This is really no different than manually punching in any traditional piece of digitizing software.

    The benefit, though, is that you have all of Corel's advanced vector drawing tools at your disposal instead of the primitive tools provided by other programs.
