You mention "office" are you on a network saving your work to a server? If so, this might be another area to look at?
As for Vista... well I've had some frustration - but then I did with XP in the beginning too. I try to not be the first person on the block, but this upgrade didn't work that way.
Our memories are short after several years of stable performance. Many of the issues that are blamed on Vista, aren't it's shortcomings, many were third party drivers. Vista has settled down to be in my opinion very stable and fast. You will still run into issues with software development lagging behind for Vista, but that too will catch up. As for a company investing in new technology it's not cheap and they need to squeeze every last penny. Just wait 2 more years and then you can really catch up with Windows 7!
