    EXACT SIZE PREVIEW

    Dear all

I would like to see the actual design size, but i found it is not possible.  if i keep the 100% zoom even though it is not correct. For instance if i have taken 3 cm width & 8 cm height : like to see the actual print size. is it possible or any idea.  I am getting the exact size only when i have a print.

    with regards

    Re: EXACT SIZE PREVIEW

To get to exact size on the monitor, you have to set up the calibration of the rulers. You do this by going (menu) Tools->Options->Workspace->Toolbox->Zoom, Hand Tool and then click on button labeled "Calibrate Rulers...". Once there, you can set your display so that when you select a zoom factor of 100%, your 3cm object will display at 3cm on the screen.

Hope this is what you are looking for.

I could not understand how to calibrate the rulers, it displayed Horizontal & vertical Resolution pixels per meter. Can u please explain me clearly how this could i have to be done in order to achieve the actual zoom factor i.e., 100%.

When you have the Horizontal and Vertical Resolution pixels per meter, hold a ruler up to the screen and adjust the pixel count up or down until the ruler on your monitor matches the ruler in your hand.

After you set both, the horizontal and the vertical pixel count so that the rulers (on your monitor and in your hand) are equal, and you have saved these settings, anytime you select "100%" zoom, your display will show exactly the object in true size.

    Re: EXACT SIZE PREVIEW

I have calibrated my display & to me it shows the actual print size on screen. Try doing this.

To get horizontal No. of pixels : (Enter this value for calibrating Horizontally)

Actual horizontal display size of your monitor in inches / horizontal resolution set for display

To get Vertical No. of pixels : (Enter this value for calibrating vertically)

Actual Verticle display size of your monitor in inches / Verticle resolution set for display

    Re: EXACT SIZE PREVIEW

I also have observed this but am not really able to figure out WHY. In fact it should show the zoom level as 100% and an "*" to indicate that its a customised ruler calibration.

anytime you select "100%" zoom, your display will show exactly the object in true size

    Zoom Level – 100%

Setting the Zoom Level to 100% is zooming To Page (Shift+F4). But if you enable the "Zoom Relative 1:1" option (above the Calibrate Rulers button), then Zoom to 100% will zoom 1:1 (Actual Size).

    "Zoom 1:1" Command

In CorelDRAW, there is a "zoom 1:1" command to which you can assign a keyboard shortcut, or put it on any Toolbar or Context Menu (right click menu).

This command zooms to actual size (3x3cm object occupies 3x3cm on monitor) whether or not the "Zoom Relative 1:1" option was enabled.

    Zoom 1:1 and Web Design

    When designing for web, I

    1. Set Drawing Units to pixels
    2. Set the Document Resolution to 96 dpi
    3. Calibrate Rulers to match the screen resolution: 96 pixel per inch (for both horizontal and vertical rulers)
    4. Turn off "Calibrate Colors" (Turn Color Managment off)
    5. Use the RGB palette

Then if I zoom 1:1, the 70x70 pixel object occupies 70x70 pexel on monitor, and I can preview my work in actual size and almost as it will be when exported to bitmap.

I assigned F5 key to zoom 1:1. So, from any zoom level, when I need to preview my work, I just press F4 (Zoom to Fit All) then F5 (zoom 1:1) and surly without pressing F9; because it changes the zoom level.

    Note

Thanks to Os; I can maximize the Work Area to work and preview without pressing F9. >>details

Simplest Zoom Trick ever (I know its stupid)

    1. Get an A4 Paper

    2. Maximize your Window

    3. Set Document size to A4

    4. Set your zoom level to match the A4 border to the real A4 paper

    5. Get a note of the zoom level, use it always (on some screens is 68%, on other its 73%, so no rules)
