    Problem with Interactive transparency tool

CorelDraw X3 13.0.0.667 with sp1 and hotfix installed.
    Windows XP sp2
Vision Tek Radeon X1300 with 512mb video card

    Hello
The video listed below shows how to create a glassy button. About half way thru the directions say to use the Interactive transparency tool to add the glassy part to the button. I have not been able to follow that part because when I try the transparency does not happen as shown in the video. I have to draw the tool much higher then the person in the video, it does not quite add that glassy look that he gets. The screenshot of the tool settings are the same as mine.

Can someone follow the directions in the video or down below and see if you have the same problem when you get to step 9?
BTW the guy who created these videos has many good walkthrus at youtube. See links below

The steps are to make the button pretty simple.
    1. Draw a rectangle. Fill with red color
    2. Use the Shape tool to round off the corners
    3. Ctrl + D to duplicate shape and fill with orange
    4. Resize to to fit inside 1st shape, narrow the width to just inside and lower the height to 1/4 or a bit less as high
    5. Select all then remove the outline by clicking on Outline tool button> No Outline
    6. Select all then go to Effects> Blend and select the number of steps, I choose 40. Click Apply
    7. Ctrl + D to duplicate shape and fill with white
    8. Resize to to fit inside 1st shape, narrow the width to just inside and lower the height to 1/2 as high
    9. Now use the Interactive transparency tool to add the glassy part to the button

will try the steps later tonight if I have a chance. On thought could be that your color management and the author of the tutorial are different.

I haven't had a chance to look at the tut.

However, I have created glass buttons that I can send you to reverse engineer as well as I can tell you how I did it.

Here is the file I can send you.

    Hello
Those are some nice images. I guess I need to practice some more. I like the black border trim

    Hello
Thanks for the link. I can create the buttons with those directions using the Interactive fill tool. Maybe I was selecting something other then the white then using the Interactive transparency tool. I need to make sure the white part in in front of layer but didn't remember to do that.

I said orange after looking at my button, it is what you get when you blend... my mistake.

At the Corel site. Is there a way to soften the edges of the glassy/white part?
See steps 4 and 5. Soften it like you would a drop shadow.

You will obtain better results with this article by Steve Bain.

Re: Problem with Interactive transparency tool

to soften the edges of the glassy reflection try converting the reflection object to a bitmap.

    > select reflection object > bitmaps > convert to bitmap (choose an appropriate dpi for your purpose and be sure to select the Transparent Background box)

    > select reflection bitmap object > bitmaps > blur > gaussian blur (play with the blur settings using the preview feature until you get what you are after)

     Cheers!
