                I was doing a business card which included couple of pictures as per my client's request. When i published my file as a pdf for press purpose it crossed up to 3mb size. Is there any way to make lightest pdf formats from corel draw 12

 It depends upon your file content. If you have only text and vector objects that does sound heavy. If you are including bitmaps, well, 3MB might be heavy but might not.

Do you have a small JPG you could show us so we can judge?

Thank you very much for showing concern in my question, yes there were 4 bitmaps involved in business card, i dont know how to show u sample of business card as i dont see attach buttion here.

So what do you think is happening between Primo and Corel's engine? I hope you don't believe 3 MB is out the window with no difference in quality/resolution.

I assure you that Corel's engine is fine, once people take 10 minutes to explore the parameters, all of which are critical.

I appreciate that your knowledge of Draw is much greater than mine, and I do not know the requirements of the printing industry these days, although I retired 14 yrs ago after 50+yrs in the trade.

What was asked for was a way to reduce the file size for a business card, and this I gave.

I have just printed out both files which I mentioned, Corel and Primo PDFs, and they are identical; so you tell me what is happening.

 If you wouldn't mind, I would like to look at your cdr file and see what I get when I create a PDF using the Presets I've developed for my Printshops. Would you email it to me?

When reducing a PDF in file size - esp. that dramatically - there are 2 things that come to mind;

1. Downsampling of bitmaps

2. Compression Method

Both apply to any bitmaps in the file.

I'm certain if you learn about and toy with these options you'll create small PDF's, comparable to Primo PDF.

Thats a huge difference in file size, there has to be a quality difference between them. I would imagine that primo is applying compression that may look ok at screen resolution, but may differ upon print. Another posibility is flattening, is primo flattening the output to one bitmapped layer instead of leaving it as vectors?

I using Acrobat Distiller for making pdf files. It works well, the final quality is good and you have a lot of settings to do about file size or quality...
