Corel 12 is minimal on vector graphics?

Corel Draw is 100 percent vector graphics.

With any vector program you use you will either have to do an auto trace or trace the image manually to vectorize it.

Either way, you do it yourself unless you pay someone to do it for you.  Sorry, there are no short cuts for it.  The quality you get= the time you put in to it.

Since I have no destination, I'm never lost.

    Hi Jennyroq,

First, CorelDRAW 12 (Graphics Suite) IS a vector program, and you cant really get anything better than CorelDRAW in doing vector illustration and art. If you think otherwise, then look at the galleries in this forum. In the gallery section you can see everything from vector ART, illustration with subject matter and technical illustrations. The gallery show a very nice broad way in how one can use CorelDRAW to make VECTORS. And in the latest version I myself have a perspective illustration of buildings within the new Welcome screen, which opens on start up of the program. Ariel shows great ways on how to make Mesh fill vector art, tutorial and all, and much, much more. If you dont have the new X4 version, here are links to images that are inside the new X4.

Copy and past these links into the browser/URL

    4. http://coreldraw.com/photos/annaomline/picture427.aspx
    5. http://coreldraw.com/photos/igorstshirts/picture2727.aspx

With Version 12, which you have, you have CorelTRACE, a great vectorization program.
With CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X4 you have inside CorelDRAW the PowerTRACE.

Here is a link to Corels website on how to make vectorization with CorelTRACE (version 12 and X3)
    http://corel.com/servlet/Satellite/ca/en/Content/1171405233027
And the basics can be applied to the new Corel PowerTRACE.

    http://corel.com/servlet/Satellite/ca/en/Content/1152796556718

I could also HIGHLY recommend you to buy the best book there is, in my opinion, to learn to work with CorelDRAW. The latest version of the CorelDRAW Unleashed 12 http://www.unleash.com/coreldraw12unleashed/index.asp
or even better buy the latest X4 book, the basics of making vector art is almost always the same
    http://www.unleash.com/coreldrawx4unleashed/

I have been a user of CorelDRAW Graphics Suite since WAY back, and I was also a Advisory Council member as well as a Beta tester for the latest version, and I have to say without hesitation, that the newest version of X4 is the absolutly best version ever.

If money isnt an issue, then upgrade to X4.

And finally, CorelDRAW is THE vector program.

All though CorelPowerTRACE is available within the program I have always used the tools to make the vector images from scratch, like the Bezier tool, Pen tool, the rectangle and all other object/curve tools there is to make vectors.

thank you Stefen for your time and explanaition... that helps more then you know.I have been trying to figure out if i have a good enough program to work with ( but now i understand it just takes time) i will look through your links . I appreciate so much for your answer and i will look into the book you mentioned also upgrading to x4 also is a plan, but not for a month or s. I have to save up the money.

All people ,buisnesses, everything has gone vector(well for quite some time now) and i need to be up to date. I enjoy art so much I took a home school in Graogics art, so they taught basics although there was not a learning section sttrictly for vectorizing images.( which is to bad.... but as long as I know it is here right under my nose , I should be able to work it out.

    THANK YOU !!!

I have looked at your webpage over the 4th weekend, You have some amazing art work and style... I like it.( I am not so sure what alot of it says (in another language) but the graphics look very fun and inviting...

    Re: vectorizing...pleas help

    Hi again Jennyroq,

thanks for looking at my website. Just for the record, my website is in both Swedish as well as english. Just have to choose language, either on the first enter page, or the Brittish flag in the menu.

What is great with the Unleash books by Foster D. Coburn, is that they really show you in a very pedagogical way, on how to work with vectors in the program CorelDRAW X4. It is good for both a new user as well as a experienced user. Of all the books, on paper or DVD/CD I have seen through the years, the simplicity, the direct approach is a gift Foster has. I am still impressed.

There is one other really good one, Tom Knight who runs the website, with books as well, on DVD: http://www.advancedartist.com/
I havent gone through his books, but I have gone through several of his free tutorials on his website, and they are VERY good.

Yes JennyRoq, you ARE Big Smile

I understand the frustration, we have all felt that in the beginning.
I dont know how much you know about vectors, have you managed to do a vector illustration as of yet?

Show an example of a simple image you like to make as a vector. And then maybe I/we know what you need to do, how to go about. To understand on what level in Vector art making you are at.

    Re: vectorizing...pleas help

    Question:
you know that when drawing with the bezier tool that you have to close the object? You do so by conecting the last node point on the first node.

And when you have made an object/curve you can among things, use the Shape tool to bend, skew and shape a line between nodes?
To help you get started its important to know what level you are at.
