    How to make feather around the picture

    Hi,

       Is it possible to feather around picture in corel draw? I was trying to do by Trancperancy tool but it does not feather all around the picture like we could do in photoshop, is there any solution?

    Loads of solutions - try this one:

    • Select photo;
    •  <shift> and double click on rectange tool;
    •  fill with black;
    •  Use the blend tool: inside, 20 steps, 0.5mm, white inner (or whatever to get a nice feather from white center to black edge);
    •  Export, selected only, GIF, "Feather mask", greyscale pallete (I recommend putting it in C:\Program Files\Corel\CorelDRAW Graphics Suite 13\Custom Data\Frames\) (the rest of the files in here are CPT format - doubt it matters)
    •  Delete the object

    you have now set up a transparency mask that can be applied to your photo:

    •  Select the photo
    • Select the wine glass (interactive transparency) from the "interactive tools" flyout
    • Change the drop-down on the interactive toolbar to "Bitmap pattern"
    • On the little picture drop-down select "Other..."
    • Browse to your mask that you've just saved (it defaults to "my documents" all the time - really annoying)
    • If it's inverted (ie you can see the edges, but not the middle) then swap the 0 and 100 on the interactive toolbar (typeing in is quicker than using the sliders)

    To understand better, I recommend playing with the different frames in there, change the "mode" from 'normal', use the blue dots to stretch and rotate the frame - some really cool effects you can produce.

    Gadget, Thank you very much for detailed explaination, but i am kind of stuck in start, As you mentioned in ur msg open photo "shitf & double click on rectangler tool" i am doing same but its making a rectangle around the page size not photo. Anyway i made a rectangle around the photo and filled black color in it but blending opition is not working there, I meant to say it's not blending black box with the photo as u know we need to have 2 objects to blend. What would u suggest me here.

    Waiting for your response,

    Regards

    Sorry - my mistake: didn't notice this was V12 area...

    The double-click thing is just a short-cut to make a rectangle the same size as the photo (for X3/X4 only I think) - just turn snap to objects on and drag from one corner to the other.

    Did I say "blend"? If I did, again I was in error - "Contour" - different tool. Although if you wanted to you could use it this way: Create another rectangle the size of the area you want to be 100% visible, then blend between the outside one and this one. Same results.

    The instructions might be subtly little different if you don't have an "other..." button at the bottom of the texture list (click on "edit..." then "load...") but other than that, it should work.
