    Find & Replace Color issue

    Hello Folks!

I'm having an issue with Find & Replace in X3.

    I'll start at the beginning....

I have a series of straight vertical lines that I drew with the Bezier Tool. I started with one line, "converted the outline to an object", which I gave a black fill, duplicated it, and filled the new one grey. I then butted them together using object snap. I then duplicated them, repeating the process until I had about 100 of them side by side butted together in an alternating fashion. After that I grouped all the objects together.

Next, I inserted them into a Power Clip.

Once the objects were inserted into a Power Clip, I chose "Edit Contents", and tweaked them with the Interative Envelope tool.

Now, here is where I am running into a problem. Still editing the power clip, I ungroup the objects and open the "Find and Replace" Wizard. I want to replace a Color. I enter the "Find " color value and the "Replace" color values (set to replace Fills). I click finish and it says it cannot find the color that I wish to replace. Hmmm, ok...I'm looking at fifty of them right there on the screen in front of me. If I select the objects individualy, I can change the color no problem, but that's a pain in the @ss. Why is the Find & Replace wizard "blind" ???? Does it not like the Envelope I applied?? I'm at a lose here! Any one have any input on this?? Maybe it's my technique?

    Anyone??

    Thanks!!

    Paul

    Paul,

I did a test and this is what I discovered. It won't find the colors in a group of objects with an envelope applied, But, if you ungroup your objects after applying the envelope, it will find the objects and change the color. Just be sure you don't have to tweak your envelope settings! Because once you ungroup them, they become ordinary objects again.

     Hi Branda,

Thanks for the reply. My objects are ungrouped. Like I said, I can fill them induvidually by selecting them one by one. Hope my files not corrupt file.

    Thanks again!

Re: Find & Replace Color issue

Well, it must have been a temporary bug. I started over and wasn't able to reproduce the problem.

Thanks for trying to help =)
