    eps Importing Woes

I have been sent a number of eps files to work with. When I try to import them into CorelDraw 12 as type “PS, PRN, EPS – PostScript Intepreted” I get an Import Error message claiming an “Invalid File Format”. When I try importing them as Files of Type “EPS-Encapsulated Postscript” I get a grey box that says “FILENAME.EPS” and “Adobe Illustrator (R) 12”.

I can import them into Photoshop, but not PhotoPaint. (And if these were indeed Illustrator files to start with I would like to keep them as vector files ). I can import them into CorelDraw if I save them from Photoshop as native Photoshop files or Photoshop .pdf files, but they get awfully jaggedy.

One post on these forums suggested “opening” the eps files in CorelDraw rather than importing them. But when I attempt this, I get a blank page.

Sounds like the files may have been created in a newer version of Illy than Corel 12 can handle.

Have your customer backsave and see if that helps.

Agree with Diane. Either have the files saved down a couple versions or upgrade to X4 which handles ai and eps files a lot better than previous versions. Only new issue is the compressed file formats illy uses yet the files can be saved without that compression and will import / open just fine in X3 and X4

And i agree with Richard. <smile>

    He's got the best idea.

Upgrade to avoid any future "woes".
