    Re: about antivirus

For me, Nod32 and Kaspersky are the best antivirus on the present. Kaspersky is secure, solid, and cheap, Nod32 is fast, secure and it's the less troublesome.

but the most important thing is to hear the user's experience (and the personal experience, of course). Years ago, I was user of the Peter Norton's antivirus, but now I see impossible to live and work with Symantec. Now, I use NOD32 and I'm feel happy and safe with it. Anyway, I think that Kaspersky is also a good altenative, a safe and powerful option.

    Re: about antivirus

I used to have Kaspersky for a while but I switched to AVG not long after that.
I was affected by a nasty virus which Kaspersky could not detect and AVG got rid with it.
That rocked my faith in Kaspersky.
    I also use Threatfire.

For malware, I use Malwarebytes, SUPERAntiSpyware, AVG AntiSpyware and Spybot S&D.

All these are free and recommended by malware specialists.

    Re: about antivirus

Just wanted to throw in my experience with Symantec too: the worsest crap I've ever used! And it is not so easy to uninstall, when it's preinstalled with XP on common Laptops and Computers today.

A late employee of Siemens, with more than 20 years of experience in configuring networks, told me that some big AV-Suppliers use to solute viruses not only to proof theyr own software, but to get the poor AV users to buy their products, cause otherwise those viruses cant be fixed.

    Hm, gets me thinking...

FYI, it's almost impossible to uninstall Norton's product completely without going deep down into registry. Even with those removal tool.

Many thanks for all your thoughts an opinions... It is interesting to see the variety of programs being used. The comparisons were interesting too, each company's product seems to be best. Smile

I thought I would try the Kapersky, which seemed to be the most used but can not get inot their site. Maybe Norton is stopping me.

Out of curiousity, who among the lurkers are using Norton?
