    Re: Resizing Characters

some programs allows to apply a special feature that was not included in the real typeface. For example, PageMaker allows to make an Arial Black "bold" (more Black than Black), or a Zapf Chancery "italic" (the "normal" font is italic, but it becomes more italic). But, when you send to the Postscript printers, RIP, or try to create a PDF (export as PDF or create a PDF using Acrobat Distiller), this kind of effect causes an error. It's something common. Of course, Photoshop has not problem... if you flatten all layers and save as TIF or JPG, there's no text and there's no problem..

    Re: Resizing Characters

Alright, this is what I was doing (see attachment).

Can I do that in CorelDraw?

Basically you are simply distorting the font. Type the word, and resize it horizontally until it is the width you want.  Attach that text to a curve. Do the same with the second word aligning the text to the right of a new curve. I've try to attach a file. Hope it works.

    Re: Resizing Characters

I thought about the way you described, but I don't want the invisible curve and I want the phrase as one object not two.

    It doesn't matter actually.

Maybe my mind is still pretty much attached to Photoshop, so I choosed to do it there.

    Re: Resizing Characters

if you don't want an invisible curve, select it and delete. The best way is to make this job with one phrase, or at least, with the same condensed proportion.

I agree with Ariel, delete the line. If you want one object instead of 2 group them. Don't know why that matters. It's a shame to move to a raster program to get what CorelDraw can give you more directly. It would be nice if the 2 words word condensed to the same proportion, but understand that you want each word to fill its own space.

    Re: Resizing Characters

Previously I thought I cannot delete the curve alone as it is group with the text.
But now I figure out that I can do so by converting the group to separate curves.
    Thanks.

    Re: Resizing Characters

Hi Wil, as I mentioned earlier, it really doesn't matter actually, just that I'm still considerably new to CorelDraw and have been using Photoshop for years, so whenever I have such problem and I'm in a rush, I'll think of Photoshop.

As like you say, yes, the spaces for the two words are not the same, so it cannot be done with a single phrase in Draw.

At least now I know two alternative ways to do the same thing in the future.

They are not the same thing; bitmap in Photoshop and vectors in CorelDRAW!

Why deleting the line; select it and remove the outline, and leave it there for future editing.
