I'm using CorelSuite 12 under Windows Vista Home Premium and was recently forced to reformat my hard drive. Corel PP works, but when I attempt to launch CorelDraw, the program comes up, and then a window pops up giving me critical updates to load. I went ahead and downloaded the critical update (CGS12SP1EN) but when I attempt to install it, I get an error message saying the installer was interrupted and it did not install properly. (I've tried it several times.)

 Furthermore, CorelDraw itself cannot be accessed. The program is up but nothing works. I can't activate any of the menus and can't even close out the program short of ending the task using the Windows Task Manager. (It's not like the program is frozen. Rather it's like there's another window that is waiting for a response...but I can't see anything.)

 Help! CorelDraw is useless to me until I get this resolved.

Turn off UAC in the Control Panel and then try it again.

You can turn on UAC again when finished but I doubt you will want to. :-)

Also double check your virus scanning software and make certain it is set to allow CorelDraw to access the net.

 I have had the UAC off since before I installed CorelDraw. I will check into something blocking Corel during the installation of the patch, but if it WAS that, it would be the first time I've experienced that issue.

Am not naving all of the problems cited, and v12 suite seems to be working. But msg to updte, dwnload and install results in same...msg says it was interrupted and to us Setup (Disk1). Still can't install alleged update, and there is no Corel support to assist.

What is UAC, and why do you recommend turning it off?

I think I do not have trouble accessing Inet.

BTW- would you have any solution to the perpetual, annoying white foggy delaying screen in Vista? It seems to be a common problem, but noone thus far has any solution or recommendations. My system is not an update, it came with Vista Home Premium installed.

Would appreciate any advice you can offer.

I'm surprised you were able to operate v12 at all on your Vista sys, as only X3 w/update and X4 are Vista compatible. Not the answer you wanted I know!

UAC stands for: User Account Control. It interfers with common tasks such as installing programs (among a lot of other things...google it =)). IMO, it's a pain in the @ss.

 I resolved my issue by upgrading Corel Graphics Suite 12 with Corel Graphics Suite X4. My Windows Vista would NOT run v12 at all.
