This patch broke things worse than they already were for me.  The object manager changes ROYALLY screwed my templates.  We are using multiple master layers and they disappear from the object manager when you toggle their visibility.  AND when i change pages, then select a new layer, it forces me back to the page i just came from!

Come on Corel, what you are you guys doing over there?  There cant have been much testing going on if every time you release something i come across bugs IMMEDIATELY through regular use.

Anyway, you guys seen these problems or did you even know the patch was up?  i never go an announcement or anything, an employee stumbled on to it.

    Re: SP1

Sounds like you might have a corrupt workspace. I am not seeing any of these difficulties on my three X4 machines (all with SP1)

Launch your program with F8 held down and rewrite your workspace with the default. Let us know if that cures your issues.

I have had the patch installed for weeks. The Corel Updater told it was available and it installed automatically. It has been common knowledge on this forum for a month or two that the patch was out.

    Re: SP1

I had sooooooooooooooooooo many problems with my workspace in x4 Im curios, did you import your workspace from an earlier version? I did and it rendered my version absolutley 100 percent useless. x4 got some pretty serious problems there but i wont go into it here. Check my other posts. Best dix quite unfortunatley is what Rikk suggested in that scenario.

I installed the patch trying desperatley to fix this version  (x4). You are correct. Yes It does screw things even worse. Uninstall your version and reinstall without the patch. The patch screwed my layer / object manager too. Also have you noticed any problems with quick correct? Now it seems that after entering a space after a word that is "quick corrected" nothing happens until you type the next word. The "quick corrected" word is then corrected, the cursor drops in after that word, pushing the rest of the sentence ahead of it.

My solution after much bitching and whining  was to get a new machine. Clean install X4 with a new workspace, no macros and most importantly NO PATCH. Worry not. Im sure ther will be 2 more patches, each one to fix the last. The dev team will then give up and release another version x5 and start patching that. Just look at the trends. It speaks for itself.

Good luck fellow warrior. Keep fighting the good fight.Wink

    Re: SP1

Had the same problems with SP1... Wiped off the whole installation, the registries... and again!  Tryed several times.

I'm convinced it's something rotten with this SP1 -- it was made in a hurry.

So i work without it, calmly waiting for an SP2.

haha, i had forgotten about this post.  But to answer the month old questions above:  yes the object manager is fubared, but only if you use hotkeys to change pages...(lol wut?).  If you click the tabs at the bottom or use the arrows the object manager stays in working order.  A quick fix while you are working through the pages though is to just force the object mgr to reload by turning the layer managment option on and off (or vice versa).  Otherwise X4 is working basically ok.

As for the workspace import, yea i imported it at first and it worked just as well as it does now.  I thought it might be the import causing the issues so i did an F8 retart and all it did was kill my setup.  Had to remake it, but atleast 1 hotkey is not reassignable (V).  It says its a modifier for another hotkey, but I dont see how that matters.  Still, it wont let me reassign the V key.

As you said, waiting on SP2 or X5.

After much ado I stumbled over the fact that my quick correct file was corrupt. I replaced it with an old one from v 12. I had to rename it to match but now, it seems things are working a lil better. Does your quick correct work properly?

TBH, i do VERY little text in corel.  For me its more of an artistic/layout program than brochures and such, however the small amount of text i do seems to be working fine.

    Re: SP1

It was just a guess. My workspace had been giving me some serious problems for a long while. I dont do much with text either. Replacing the file though seems to have increased my Corel's stability. Ive gone from 5 ish crashes every day to about 1 crash every three days... so far. The way I found my problem was to type a new entry into the QC dialogue then test it. If it doesnt replace after the first space but after the next word's space odds are you need to replace it. If it works though, dont mess with it. I couldnt blieve that a 17kb file could wreak so much havok. My next guess would be... are you back saving your docs? If so, it may impact your dockers.

    Good luckBeer
