New files in X3 are slow to load

After I tried unsuccessfully to get the Scrapbook working properly it now takes more the 20-30 seconds to load a new file. I can't think of anything I changed but maybe someone knows why this happened. Prior to that new files loaded very fast. Many thanks, Grant.

Sometimes this happens if the Insert Character docker is opened. It's like CorelDRAW reloads fonts each time you create a new file.

    1. Close the docker or switch to another docker.

I don't know if it happens with other text related dockers.

    Waiting your feedback...

    Thanks Ahmad,

No dockers were open, but I think you are on the right track anyway. As it happens I reinstalled the whole application yesterday and new files now take a little less time to load, but I get the impression something is trying to happen as the progress bar gets to about two thirds, hesitates for a few seconds, then gets moving again. Without reading the instructions I was actually looking for the symbols anyway, so the 'Insert Character' was just what I wanted - thanks! Although I've had X3 for a while, from version 8, I haven't had time to date to get into it.

    Regards Grant

that may be related to ColorStyles overload - check it in the ColorStyles docker, and if there are thousands or millions of them, you can strip them wholly by either using changeCLOL patch or enabling wx_PatchDraw's DisableCLOL-on-load/save option *before* opening or saving the file.

Thanks Os, but that's something I've never used. I looked at it but there was only one Colorstyle in the docker.

    1. What did you try, unsuccessfully, to get the Scrapbook working properly?
    2. What is your default font?

Try to open a new file, "Save Settings As Default" (Tools menu) and restart CorelDRAW.

     Hi Ahmad,

I have the Academic version of X3 & I thought it may have as much Clipart & Symbols as my previous CorelDraw which was version 8. Having discovered it did not, I tried to access the 8 stuff through the scrapbook, but all that happens when I browse to the CD from the Scrapbook docker is that it opens in a normal Windows Explorer window. I haven't been able so far to work that one out.

Anyway the default font is Arial, but whatever I did trying to get to the Scrapbook has now been fixed by your suggestion to "Save Settings As Default" and new files now open as fast as they ever did! Many thanks for that.

    Regards, Grant
