Anyone know why I get a missing linked object warning? I dont use linked objects... at all. Ive cleaned out all my styles etc. Is there a way disassociate the file.  Ive read the help doc and it describes how to break the link. Problem is, there is no linked object in the document to select (to break the link.) Ive found the path to the linked object in explorer. The path no longer exists either.

 Hywel, The path no longer exists it hasnt for years. It was on an old server now were on a NAS server

 Yes the file was/ is old. We have to go back in our logs and update old files as our customers request updated graphics in their merchandise.

Did it ever have an embedded object? Not a good idea to use embedded objects if the you don't have control of the original location (i.e. its local and you own it).

As far as embedding files, I dont do that either for the reason you explained.  I import bitmaps or drag them in from explorer. I will try the cmx workaround you suggested.

Have you tried Hywel's second suggestion; Save as (CDR)? Even without 'Selected' first.

Thank you. yes I did. It worked. I chose selected only and selected everything. Weird tho. This is not the only file it has happened with and some files will only open locally when this happens, others will only open networked. Some wont open at all.

BTW, from the photo you posted, you are not using any method to smooth screen fonts.

You can use online ClearType Tuner, or download ClearType Tuner PowerToy from microsoft.com.

Ahmad, Thanks for the info. Im curious.... what is your screen resolution? mine is at 1600 x1200 and the screen shot looks just as good as yours, to me.

Maybe you are using a browser that anti-alias your bitmap. So no difference appears.

Do your Windows use ClearType, Standard or none?

(My screen is set to 1280 x 1024)

After I read your pot, I looked at my settings and The clear type was an option so I activated but it was standard before. I use IE7 for browsing etc. Does this look any better to you?

Yes it is better :)

You can't tune ClearType from that dialog; you need the online ClearType Tuner, or ClearType Tuner PowerToy.

You will notice the difference even without tuning.
