Error reading <file name> file. when opening CDR CorelDraw X3

How can I get CorelDraw X3 to recover a file it will not open. When opening my CDR file, the progress bar gets half way and then this error message appears "Error reading myfilename.CDR file." This is all it says and it does not open the file. The _backup file does the same thing. In CorelDraw...
